WORK DESCRIPTION – WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

This position is responsible for supporting delivery of WasteSorted and Recycle Right state-wide waste education tools, communications and resources for local governments and the community. These help households to sort their kerbside waste better, help to reduce landfill and increase resourcing recovery through recycling and using FOGO.

The role is also responsible for coordinating delivery of the annual WasteSorted Awards for the waste industry.

The role provides communication services and project coordination services to the Waste Authority, the Minister for Environment, and the Department in relation to the development, implementation, management and reporting of waste programs and waste policy, and helps to deliver the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030.

The role works collaboratively both internally and across key stakeholder agencies, local government and industry.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY - WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW:

This opportunity is part-time (60 hours per fortnight) and will commence from 1 July 2026 until 30 June 2027 with a possible extension.

The department is committed to creating an equitable and diverse workforce.  Applications from people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, women and youth are encouraged.

Applicants found suitable, but not selected for this opportunity may be offered opportunities in similar vacancies that arise within a period of up to six (6) months from endorsement of the recruitment decision.  These positions may be part or full time in a variety of metropolitan and regional locations.
